Mercatino

Meaning “little market,” Mercatino is a unique market-style restaurant that dishes up delicious, healthy, and natural food to Calgary’s bustling downtown workforce. Mercatino’s second location on the plus-15 level of Calgary’s Fifth Avenue Place Tower is a busy destination that serves more than 800 people per weekday.

Aiming to improve upon the restaurant’s success at its first location, FRANK worked closely with the client group to develop a unique aesthetic concept. The crisp, modern, and timeless design, which features a sizeable geometric floor tile pattern, custom-designed brass light fixtures, and a 40-foot solid-surface serving counter, sets this location apart from its competitors.

Expanses of patterned wall tile and subtle brass detailing act to complement strong, articulate graphics and wayfinding strategies created by the project’s graphic designer, The Bureau. Guests flow through the restaurant’s six unique food stations with ease and are treated to an elevated experience that is quick and convenient.
