Inspired by Korean folklore, Anju’s design reflects the owner’s reverence to tradition while offering unexpected elements to keep things as fresh as the menu. This much-loved restaurant outgrew its original location and sought to keep things as intimate and homey in its much larger new space in a high-traffic area of Calgary. FRANK created a design concept that that would satisfy devoted followers while having broad appeal.
Undertones of Korean culture such as the extensive collection of authentic kimchi pots are injected throughout, while hints of storytelling and nationalism create a space that is perfect for group dining. Vintage Korean stamps serve as framed art on the walls and reliefs depict ancient Korean motifs and folklore characters on the bar.
