Located in Calgary’s business core, Pigeonhole Downtown is the grown-up sister of beloved Pigeonhole 17th. This restaurant expands on the spirit of the original location with a refined atmosphere that offers guests an escape from the bustling downtown. The space balances warmth and sophistication with layered textures and intimate architectural moments. The result is a restaurant that feels both grounded in the Pigeonhole legacy and distinctly suited to its urban setting.
layered warmth
The design positions Pigeonhole Downtown as the more mature counterpart to its lively 17th Avenue sibling. An earthy palette of woven textiles, blonde wood panelling, patinated bronze and ceramic glaze finishes creates a warm, natural foundation. Mid-century vintage furniture and lighting are thoughtfully layered throughout, giving the space a collected, lived-in sensibility.
the main frame
As guests enter, a dramatic service bar and open show kitchen draw immediate attention. The rich mahogany wood, textured green tile and exotic stone combine to create a striking focal point that anchors the room. Throughout the restaurant, carved plaster arches form organic alcoves while curved banquettes upholstered in nubby fabrics and buttery leathers add softness and intimacy.
storied surfaces
Green marble tabletops, iconic to the Pigeonhole brand, make their return after being salvaged from Calgary’s iconic brunch institution, Victoria’s. The marble introduces a texture that harmonizes with the restaurant’s earthy palette, connects the new space to the original and carries a small piece of local dining history forward.
